TALABOY, Biography. TALABOY is an afrobeat and afropop musician, His real name is Selom AKLIKU Rodrigue and was born on the 22nd September 1996.
Father, Anthoni AKLIKU a Ghanaian and Mother Akuvi Djeni, a Togolese national. Talaboy at the age of 8years travelled to Togo to his mother’s hometown , where he decided to stay with his maternal grandmother and grew up learning how to speak French in Togo schools until he completed university.
Talaboy couldn’t stop his Love for MUSIC, he started singing and going to competitions at age 9, he was always the best singer among all the candidates in all competitions he participated.
Later, the father decided to stop his passion for MUSIC because the father aimed sending him to study “French” so to be become an ambassador in languages but he refused the idea.
Talaboy decided to leave the family for a lonely life. He travelled to Nigeria and stayed in Lagos for a year, then to côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Cameroon and Congo. He got tired of being alone and suffering. So he decided to come back to his country Ghana to start a new life. Throughout his rounds, he never stopped loving music. Along the way in his hustling life, he got discouraged of singing and investing without getting anything as income, so he paused. His last song he posted was #take_a_step (in 2016).
In 2018 he decided to clear all his songs, information’s and even pages from the social media because he decided to start his fashion clothing business. He started the business recently in 2019. On the 18th March 2021, he visited his friend OBY A BEATS, who is a song engineer in Ghana. TALABOY meeting his friend again in studio after a long time was really a wonderful day for them, listening to afrobeat instrumental played by his friend immediately got him inspired, spitting a wonderful freestyle on it as a fun. He decided to record his voice on the beat and sure, he did it. Not soo good in Twi (Ghana traditional language) He wrote the song himself and even sang the hook in Ghana Twi language, and to gave a title to his song which is “MAKOMA” ( which means my heart in Twi).
The real story behind Talaboy makoma❤️ song is to show how much he gave his heart (love) to music, Talaboy himself always said:” music is my wife, i taste afrobeat And i love afrobeat for life, and if my enemies say always that they pass me! They have to know that nobody pass God”. These terms has been his terms in all his songs which is why even in his song makoma❤️ you can hear, “Nobody ! Nobody! Pass God oooh!!” and also “taste afrobeat, love afrobeat everyday for life oooh!!” .
