John Beasley (born June 26, 1943) is an American actor. He is credited with roles in the films Rudy (1993), The General’s Daughter (1999), The Sum of Fears (2002), Swagger (2004), The Purge: Anarchy (2014) and The Sinister Known for his role in The City 2 (2015).

In 2002, Beasley founded the John Beasley Theater and Studios in Omaha, Nebraska, to promote live theater, especially African American productions and features.

Beasley was born in Omaha, Nebraska. Beasley didn’t start his acting career until his mid-40s. He was previously a railroad worker for the Union Pacific Railroad. He founded the John Beasley Theater and Studio in South Omaha.

He also played General Lasseter in The Sum of Fears and Reverend Charles Blackwell in The Apostles. In 1992, he played Jesse Hall’s father in the film The Mighty Ducks. He starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the 2004 remake of Swagger.

Beasley has made numerous guest roles on television and appeared in several made-for-television movies. He is best known for his TV series role as Irv Harper on the WB series Everwood. He most recently appeared on the TV-Land sitcom Soul Man, whose fifth and final season aired in 2016. Beasley’s grandson Malik is a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers.
