Eight People reported has been dead in a clash between Anglogold and Galamseyers at Obuasi in an early Sunday Morning, leaving to severals injured. The incident involved milatary officers and some small-scale miners also known as Galamseyers.
According to an eye-witness, the Police were present to mentain peace but were outnumbered by some armed galamseyers who were with weapons that civilians were not supposed to carry, attempted to responds to their opposite, ObuasiMine1. This made the Police called the military.
Upon arrival, the military officers engaged in a fierce confrontation with the galamseyers, who eventually fled to their hideouts. The military and police pursued them, seizing weapons and ammunition found in the hideouts1. Those who resisted were met with force, leading to the tragic deaths and injuries.
The clash has left the community in shock, with residents expressing fear and concern over the escalating violence. The incident has also raised questions about the presence of illegal firearms among civilians and the effectiveness of security measures in the region.
