2024 Elections Polls to end at 3 pm – EC proposes. The Electoral Commission (EC) is proposing for the 2024 general election polls to end at 3 pm to enhance transparency. EC’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa refered to the 2020 Political race insight, expressing that by 1 pm, roughly 70% of polling centres were absent any and all electors.
As indicated by her, this is because of the foundation of various surveying communities, which sped up the cycle. Mrs Mensa stressed the expectation to make various surveying habitats, each with a limit of 500 citizens, meaning to lessen casting a ballot time.
In the past political decision, electors spent something like five minutes projecting their votes because of the expanded number of casting a ballot communities. “We are convinced that closing the polls at 3 pm will enable counting and collating to take place in broad daylight and promote the needed transparency and orderliness we so desire.
“We trust that our Parliament will support this drive to ensure greater transparency and orderliness in our electoral process,” Mrs Mensa said.
